About STEAM thru Drones

Bringing 21st Century Education to Rural Communities

We are committed to providing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STE(A)M) curriculum to teachers in rural areas. Our current initiative focuses on introducing drone technology to students and teachers in these areas who may have limited exposure to unmanned aerial systems. We offer a range of activities, including summer camps, after-school programs, and sessions for K-12 schools, churches, nonprofit organizations, and both public and private schools. 

Our goal is to not only introduce drone technology, but to also foster an interest in STE(A)M and keep students in rural areas engaged and active. Our sessions cover the basics of droning, standard flying, and programming challenges. As part of Focusing On Me, Inc. 501(c)(3) STE(A)M initiative, we are committed to developing 21st century STE(A)M skills in both classroom and out-of-school programs.

At our company, we prioritize teamwork, curiosity, critical thinking, courage, and creativity. Our programs are designed to be interactive, with spectacular demonstrations, hands-on activities, and real-world discussions to make learning about STE(A)M fun and engaging for kids of all skill levels. Our programs are open to grades 4 and above, and no prior experience is necessary. Join us in our mission to bring STE(A)M education to rural areas!
Dr. La'Quata Sumter, the founder of our company, is a passionate STEM advocate who believes in making STEM opportunities accessible to everyone. With a doctoral degree from the University of North Texas, Dr. Sumter specialized in researching technology acceptance and understanding how teachers and students can be more receptive to learning new technology.

With over 20 years of experience in Information Technology and 10 years in Engineering, Dr. Sumter is always eager to learn about new innovative technologies and share her knowledge with others. Her dedication to bridging the gap in STEM education is evident in her work, and she continues to inspire those around her to pursue STEM opportunities.
